A little off topic from usual posts, it needs to be said none-the-less:

With so much around us to be grateful for, I'm not quite sure why people choose to focus on the negative. This past week I've listened to so many people complain about so many things. Listen, you've got the ability to change what you don't like in your life, so do it. Make a change. Start from scratch. Time keeps moving forward so the longer you wait, the less time you have to achieve what you want. Sure, it may seem impossible, but don't let what your eyes see in this very point in time distract you. You'll have to get out of your comfort zone. If you don't want to, then don't expect changes. And it isn't with any religious affirmation I say all this, no moral ground or scientific guidelines. It's simply because I cannot see any other way to live. If you stop every now and then to take in the sky, you'll realize how simple life is among all the chaos.

It'll make sense when you're ready. I certainly don't have it all figured out, but every day is a new experience.

I am a blogging fail. A couple (or a few if it's more than two) things today:

First of all, if at any point you try to view any images in the galleries (if you're reading this on andrewlongdesigns.com) and they don't work, I know. I need to find a better way to display a gallery. Know of any good ones? HTML, Java, Joomla plugins -- anything.

Secondly, one of my designs for BT's merchandise contest made it into the top ten, and I'm basically flipping out. It's my dream (not lying) to meet BT, and the winner + second place get just that. So if you feel so inclined to vote, here are the links:

The gallery to base your vote: right here

The poll: right here

It's Facebook based, so I would imagine you'd need one. Also, don't vote for me because I told you to (although I don't think I did). Pick which one you like, and vote for it. I'd prefer if everyone's entry was decided by an un-biased vote and purely on the work.

Next item of business. Ignorance is bliss? I'm finding that the less I know about creating digital art, the more I discover ways to accomplish what I need. It's kind of a bittersweet process, in that I've had to learn everything myself. But on the other hand, I may find an approach to a design situation that is more efficient than what is normally taught. Fun and exciting.

I'll update more often, I swears it.

I was fortunate to have today (Monday) off work. The total time spent at work last week was close to 70 hours, so graciously today was granted as a rest day. This gave me time to finish some art projects, one of which is the current background for my page here (if you're reading this on blogger).

It was inspired by the game art in Grand Theft Auto 4. Setting aside the carjacking, cop-killing, and sheer mayhem, that game is a beautiful work of art. The lights, colors, architecture...amazing. I've attempted to recreate some of the scenes from there, this image being the only one I've completed. More to come.

The Insanoflex is the first time I've modeled something based off a cartoon. It was wacko fun to do, so I'm sure there's more where that came from.

Ridiculously simple, yet oddly rewarding. Enough for now. Peace!
